COMCAST ACTIVATES $1.4 MILLION FIBER NETWORK IN WALLER COUNTY
Waller County Judge Trey Duhon made a big announcement about the future of broadband in his area.
Duhon revealed that Comcast has activated their new $1.4 million Fiber Network in the City of Waller, including Beacon Hill, with future plans to expand into Prairie View and the Waller County areas of Hockley by the end of 2022.
According to Duhon, Comcast recently completed construction on its fully digital Hub in Hockley, which will extend their reach into the entirety of Waller County with 1 Gig service.
Duhon has had several discussions with the Comcast Leadership Team about their intention to make fiber broadband available to the vast majority of residents in Waller County within the next four years, possibly even sooner.
He added that business, education, healthcare, and more will be readily accessible to their citizens as broadband expands through their region.
Judge Duhon posted a statement on his Facebook page saying, “Getting reliable broadband throughout Waller County has been a goal of my administration for many years, and it is great to see very real, actual steps in that direction!”
He also stated that, “In these times, good broadband access is just as important as water, electricity, and sewer. It’s a basic utility.”
Besides getting the Fiber Network up and running, Comcast is also giving back to the local community in another way. They have made donations of $25,000 to the Brookshire United Way and $10,000 to Waller Area Restoration Ministries.
