FINAL FACILITY TOUR THURSDAY FOR BRENHAM ISD BOND PROPOSAL
Residents who are interested in seeing the facilities that will be impacted by Brenham ISD’s bond election have one last opportunity to do so tonight (Thursday).
Brenham ISD will host a facility open tour from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Brenham Junior High School. Citizens will be able to walk through school district facilities and learn about proposed improvements to them included in the $153.9 million bond measure.
The junior high school serves as the main component of the bond, which seeks to build a new campus for grades 6-8. Through the bond, Brenham Middle School and all elementary schools would then adjust to housing Pre-K through 5th grade students.
The bond also calls for upgrades at the high school such as an expanded Career and Technical Education (CTE) building and CTE renovations, improvements to the field house locker rooms and cafeteria and a band marching pad. In addition, the proposal would support districtwide accessibility and security improvements and fiber internet enhancements.
Currently, the district’s tax rate sits at $0.9884 per $100 valuation. If the bond is passed, it will increase by an estimated $0.248 per $100.
Early voting at the Washington County Courthouse Annex continues through Tuesday. Election Day is May 7th.
Brenham ISD Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin was last week's featured guest on the Brenham ISD Roundtable on KWHI to discuss the bond. The program can be heard here.
