BRENHAM MAIFEST KICK-OFF PICNIC WEDNESDAY
Festivities for the 132nd Brenham Maifest officially begin tonight (Wednesday).
The Friends of Maifest Kick-off Picnic, honoring the sponsors and volunteers of the event, will be held at Fireman’s Park at 6 p.m. The picnic will include a ribbon cutting and children’s Maipole dance.
KWHI will have a live broadcast from the picnic beginning at 6 p.m. on AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com.
The Mighty Thomas Carnival at Fireman’s Park opens tomorrow (Thursday) at 5 p.m., and will be open for three days of carnival games and rides.
Tickets are still available for the Junior and Senior Maifest coronations, which will be held Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. The Junior Royalty of Queen Talyn Sulik and King Evan Dippel will reign over the court of “Lights! Camera! Action!” Senior Royalty are Queen Moli Ragonis and King Blake Cutter Jones, and they will reign over the court of “And the Award Goes to…Maifest 2022.” Coronation tickets are only being sold online.
The Maifest parade through downtown Brenham will begin Saturday at 10:30 a.m. KWHI will broadcast the parade live starting at 10 a.m., and will also have a livestream of the parade on Facebook, sponsored by Mr. Gatti’s. The festival grounds will then open for a home brew competition, beer tasting and dance performances.
Live music throughout the weekend will include the Royal Dukes Band Friday night, and the Oompahs, the Seven Dutchmen Orchestra and the Common Ground Band on Saturday.
