BLUEBONNET ELECTRIC HOSTS DRIVE-THROUGH ANNUAL MEETING

On a perfectly sunny day nearly 200 members cruised through Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative’s drive-through Annual Meeting on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Under large covered tents in the parking lot of The Silos on 77 in Giddings, members received information about Bluebonnet. They chatted with the co-op’s Board of Directors, executives and employees and registered to win door prizes.

Ben Flencher was re-elected to Bluebonnet’s Board of Directors during the co-op’s Annual Meeting in Giddings on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Flencher has served as director from District 5, Burleson County, since 1987, and chairman since 2014.

“Our Annual Meeting is always a great day because we get to visit with our friends and neighbors,” said Ben Flencher, Bluebonnet’s Board chairman. “On behalf of Bluebonnet’s directors, thanks to everyone who came by to visit and celebrate with us all the great accomplishments we’ve enjoyed during the past year. We greatly appreciate the support our members show year after year.”

Flencher was one of three incumbent directors elected to Bluebonnet’s board during this year’s Annual Meeting. He is from Burleson County and has served on Bluebonnet’s board since 1987, and as chairman since 2014.

“It has been a privilege to serve on Bluebonnet’s board for 35 years,” Flencher said. “Congratulations to Directors Milton Shaw and Debbi Goertz for also being re-elected. This is the most cohesive group of directors, and is as dedicated as any I’ve had the pleasure to work alongside.”

Milton Shaw, director from District 1, which includes Caldwell, Guadalupe, Gonzales and Hays counties, has served on Bluebonnet’s board since 2010.

“I am honored to be re-elected and grateful for our members’ support,” Shaw said. “Bluebonnet’s directors and employees are dedicated and committed to serving our members and communities. I look forward to the next three years and being a part of the tremendous growth and success coming our way.”

Debbi Goertz, one of the directors from District 3 in Bastrop County, has served on Bluebonnet’s board since 2017.

“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to serve Bluebonnet’s members and continue the wonderful work Bluebonnet’s directors and incredible employees do every day,” Goertz said. “The key to Bluebonnet’s success is the strong bond between its employees, members and communities. It’s an honor for me to be part of this team.”

More than 6,300 Bluebonnet members participated in this year’s Annual Meeting, either in-person or by submitting proxy voting forms. The proxies established a quorum for the Annual Meeting. There was no new business on the meeting’s agenda, but had there been, it would have been voted on by members represented by their proxy voting form.

“Annual Meeting day is always special,” said Matt Bentke, Bluebonnet’s general manager. “Any chance we have to match up our employees with our wonderful members is a great day. We are grateful for everyone who came by to ask questions, do a little business or just say hello. We also appreciate all the members who were unable to attend the meeting but supported their cooperative by sending in their proxies.”

Bluebonnet members who submitted proxy voting forms were also entered into the drawings for numerous door prizes, including three Cub Cadet riding mowers. The names of winners for those prizes will be drawn Wednesday, May 11, 2022. Bluebonnet will contact those winners to arrange for their prize to be picked up or delivered. Prizes were paid for through donations from Bluebonnet vendors. To see all the information that was provided to members during the Annual Meeting, visit bluebonnet.coop/annualmeeting.
