Another round of voting has begun to determine who will be the next representative of House District 12.

KWHI is visiting with both of the candidates in the Republican primary runoff election on Tuesday, beginning with challenger Ben Bius.  Bius, the founder and principal broker of B&B Properties out of Huntsville, is squaring off against five-term incumbent Kyle Kacal after the March 1st primary ended without a candidate getting 50 percent of the vote.  The winner on Tuesday will be unopposed in November’s general election.

Bius says he aims to “modernize” the public education system while restoring parental and teacher authority in the classroom.

Bius also wants to ensure that students are taught conservative values.

Other priorities for Bius include securing the border, protecting the interests of Blinn College, and helping to draw quality economic development to the region.

As the country waits for a decision from the U.S. Supreme Court on the fate of Roe v. Wade, Bius says he hopes the court’s ruling returns to Texas the right to govern itself.

Early voting is underway through Friday at the Washington County Courthouse Annex.  Polls will be open on Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Washington County Event Center for Precinct 1 voters, the Brenham VFW Hall for Precinct 2, the Brenham American Legion Hall for Precinct 3 and the Blinn College Student Center for Precinct 4.

  1. Just the fact Ben Bius’s opponent has been in house 5 terms sends me away from him. Term limits would fix lots of problems but Ben should have a chance if he doesn’t have our backs in two years bye bye. Wise old man told me he voted with his wallet. Open it up and if it was full of money they are a keeper wallet empty time for a change.
