WALLER ISD NAMES THEIR NEW ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

NeKisha Durham, New Waller ISD Athletic Director

Waller ISD announced that they are promoting Girls’ Head Basketball Coach NeKisha Durham to be their new Athletic Director.

Durham, who is a Waller High School graduate, has been the Girls’ Head Basketball Coach since 2015, and the Girls’ Athletic Coordinator since 2016.

Durham received both her Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise and Sports, and her Master’s Degree in Education from Tarleton State University.  She later added a second Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Prairie View A&M University.

Durham has 23 years of teaching experience including stops in Stafford and Lewisville before returning to her alma mater. In addition to basketball, she has also coached volleyball, softball, track, cross country, and soccer during her career.

Durham is also a five time All District Basketball Coach of the Year, and a Waller Athletics Hall of Famer.

Her duties as athletic director will include:

1.) oversee athletics programs for both the boys and the girls

2.) provide leadership and guidance to the coaching staff

3.) act as the district’s UIL liaison to ensure compliance with policies and procedures

4.) to coordinate games, practices, and event schedules
