BURTON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AT STATE RODEO FINALS

Burton High School students Chet Fritsch, Waylon Hinze and Kaiden Kalkhake are in Abilene this week to compete in Team Roping at the Texas High School Rodeo Association State Finals.
The state finals rodeo is an annual, week-long event where high school students across Texas and surrounding states come and compete. Numerous awards, scholarships, and the opportunity to represent Texas at a National High School Finals Rodeo held each July are all up for grabs.
Contestants compete in rodeos throughout the year in one of 10 regions across the state. At the last rodeo of regional level competition, the top 10 competitors in each event are announced. These contestants are then given the opportunity to represent their region on the state level at the THSRA state finals.
Fritsch qualified out of Region 6 with his partner Blaine Warnken of Schulenburg, while Kalkhake and Hinze qualified out of Region 9.
This will be the 2nd year for Fritsch and partner Warnken to compete at the state level, and the first year for Kalkhake and Hinze to compete in High School rodeo and at the state level.
Fritsch and Warnken will be roping tomorrow during the morning and afternoon performances. Kalkhake and Hinze will be roping on Thursday during the morning and afternoon performances.
