MARKEITH WESLEY NAMED NEW HEMPSTEAD HEAD FOOTBALL COACH/ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Hempstead ISD is excited to welcome Markeith Wesley as the new Athletic Director/ Head Football Coach.

Most recently Wesley was a high school mathematics teacher, Assistant Football Co-Defensive Coordinator and Track Strength and Conditioning Coordinator at Ridge Point High School in Fort Bend ISD. He has also served as a co-offensive coordinator at George Ranch High School in Lamar Consolidated ISD.

Wesley is native of Navasota, Texas and this fall will be his 15th year in education. His career highlights as an assistant coach include 10 District football titles, multiple deep playoff runs in his hometown of Navasota, and a number of playoff appearances and wins as a coach.

Before he became a coach, Wesley experienced his own personal athletic highlights as a state powerlifting champion at Navasota High School and a First Team All-American Guard during his collegiate career at Texas A&M University - Kingsville.

“I am looking forward to getting to know the students, athletes, administration and community members,” Wesley said. “My motto is ALL IN, and it will take everyone coming together to ensure that Hempstead Athletics will achieve success.”

Wesley is a member of Texas High School Coaches Association, strength and conditioning certified, a father, an ordained deacon, and a funeral home director. He received his bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M University - Kingsville and he is currently working on his master’s in sports administration.

Hempstead High School student athletes and their families will be invited to meet Coach Wesley on Tuesday, June 21, for a meet and greet.
