BRENHAM STUDENT TO PARTICIPATE IN NASA SUMMER INTERNSHIP

  

A homeschooling student from Brenham has been selected for a prestigious summer internship.

Natalie Hoeschle will participate in the Student Enhancement in Earth and Space Science (SEES) program, held at The University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Space Research.

Hoeschle and other students will work with scientists and engineers to conduct authentic research from data received from NASA’s earth observing satellites.  They will also design Mars habitats, study Lunar Exploration, and analyze images from the International Space Station.

During the two weeks the students will work at the university, beginning July 16^th, they will conduct hands-on activities and field investigations.  They will also attend presentations by NASA scientists and engineers, and work on various NASA missions.

Almost 1,100 applications were received for the 92 on-site internship positions.  Students work remotely with their project scientist prior to the on-site internship.

The nationally competitive program is sponsored by NASA’s Texas Space Grant Consortium.  It is a collaborative effort of Consortium members and affiliates, NASA, and the UT-Austin Center for Space Research.
