GIDDINGS ISD HIRES INTERIM HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Giddings ISD has announced the hiring of John Schumacher to be the interim principal at Giddings High School.
Schumacher is the former superintendent for Gonzales ISD, and prior to that was the superintendent for Mason ISD.
He is entering his 40th year in education with 17 years of experience as a teacher and coach, plus spending the past 22 years as an administrator.
Schumacher will be filling the void left open by the previous principal, Chad Rood, who has been on a leave of absence from Giddings ISD.
Rood took his leave of absence after he met with Superintendent Roger Dees on Monday, May 23, which was the start of the final week of the school year.
While not specified, according to a report in the Giddings Times, allegations have been made against Rood. The Giddings School Board has hired an outside investigator to determine whether they are true or not.
Rood has been the principal at Giddings High School for over ten years. Schumacher will run the High School’s day-to-day operations until a decision can be made on Rood’s future.
In accepting the position, Schumacher said that he was impressed by the staff members that he met. He added that he looks forward to working with them and enhancing their experience this next school year.
