BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD TO REVIEW MAP, STAAR TEST RESULTS

The Brenham School Board will evaluate student assessment scores at its meeting Monday.

The board will examine and discuss results from MAP testing and the STAAR test.

Trustees will also consider approval of renewing Reading Horizons, Brenham ISD’s reading program, for grades K-3 and adding a new component with students in grades 4-12.

Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin said the program teaches students in K-3 phonic skills, and would teach 4th-12th graders who have gaps in their reading abilities decoding skills to help them overcome those gaps.

Also on Monday’s agenda, the board will potentially approve the purchase of lockers for the Cub Fieldhouse.  It will then review the performance of the PRIDE Academy’s Optional Flexible School Day Program this past school year and decide whether to implement it again for the upcoming year.  An application to continue the High School Equivalency Program for next year will also be considered.

An executive session will be held for the board to formally approve the naming of Melissa Boenker as principal of the Early Childhood Learning Center.  Trustees will also consider approval of an assistant principal at Brenham Elementary School and a director of safety and security.

The board will meet Monday at 6 p.m. in rooms 111 and 113 at Brenham High School.  The meeting will be livestreamed on Brenham ISD’s YouTube channel.
