SENATOR KOLKHORST APPOINTED TO A NEW BOARD

  

Texas State Senator Lois W. Kolkhorst was among those appointed by Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick to the Windstorm Insurance Legislative Oversight Board yesterday.

Kolkhorst, who is a Republican from Brenham, is the State Senator for District 18.  She also serves as the Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services.

The committee is chaired by Senator Charles Schwertner, a Republican from Georgetown.

They are joined by Senator Brandon Creighton, a Republican from Conroe, and Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, a Democrat from McAllen.

In making the appointments, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick said that careful oversight of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association is crucial for our vibrant coastal communities. He added that he is confident these senators will focus their attention to the committee’s important work.

The Windstorm Insurance Oversight Board works with the Texas Department of Insurance on issues relating to windstorm insurance, adequacy of rates, operation of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association and availability of coverage.

The board will analyze and identify issues and provide recommendations for the legislature to act on.
