WASHINGTON COUNTY 4-H ERS ATTEND LEADERSHIP EVENTS
Members of Washington County 4-H Club and county council officers attended several District 11 4-H Leadership events recently to enhance their leadership skills on the county and district levels.
Students attended the District 11 4-H Leadership Lab at the County 4-H Activity Center in Victoria.
The theme for this year’s lab was “D 11 4-H is Paradise!” Lab activities focused on team bonding, leadership and personal development, college and career exploration, motivational speeches and community services.
Attending from Washington County were District Council officer Madison Moran and Washington County Council officers and 4-Hers; Dawson Moran, Logan Mason, Dawson Rudloff, Emmy Boyd, Matthew Philips, McKenzie Tiemann, Audrey Schmidt, Kord Mikolajchak and Haylie Niemeyer.
Moran was a candidate for office in the 2022-2023 District 4-H Council election. She submitted application, did a virtual candidate interview and campaigned at camp with an ice breaker, a campaign poster, handouts of Blue Bell ice cream, a formal speech and questioning and voting. Moran was elected Chairman of the 2021-2022 District 11 4-H Council and will serve on Texas 4-H Council in the 2022-2023 year.
The Washington County 4-H Council Officers also attended the Prestige Leadership Conference at Texas Tech University. This conference allowed 4-Hers to interact with 4-H officers from other counties as well as attend sessions and tours on the Texas Tech campus. The Texas Tech Animal and Food Science departments hosted ag education sessions on multiple areas of study. Workshops were also held on parliamentary procedure and council officers spent time planning the upcoming years meetings and activities for the county.
