CALDWELL HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM TO BE NAMED FOR FORMER TEACHER

For the first time in their history, the Caldwell ISD Board of Trustees has approved the naming of a district facility in honor of a former faculty member.

The auditorium at Caldwell High School is being named, “The Lou-Ida Marsh Auditorium.”

Lou-Ida Marsh was the first theatre arts teacher to direct a play performed in the facility back when it first opened in 1984.

The play that Marsh directed was a one act play featuring scenes from “The Trojan Women” by Euripides.

Caldwell ISD also hosted the district and area One Act Play competitions that year.

During his presentation to the school board, current Caldwell High School Theatre Arts teacher Chase Owens called Marsh a “legend” and said that she had an extraordinary impact on the school during her 12 years there.

In addition to her accomplishments in Caldwell, Marsh was honored by the Texas Education Theatre Association with the Educator of the Year Award in 1984, the Founders Award in 1993, and the Emeritus Award in 2005.

She also received the Legacy Award from the Texas Theatre Adjudicators and Officials in 2017.
