The Rocky Creek Volunteer Fire Department says all local and state assets have returned to normal operations.  With 100 percent containment, firefighters believe there is “very little chance” that the fire restarts.

The fire broke out on Sunday, August 7th, scorching 397 acres and forcing evacuations along Schulenberg Lane.  Two homes and several outbuildings were destroyed, but no injuries were reported.

Fifteen volunteer fire departments from across the Brazos Valley responded to the fire, along with aircraft, strike teams and personnel from the Texas A&M Forest Service.

Employees from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will continue to patrol the area periodically.

Members of the public are reminded that they are not allowed on Corps property outside of designated parks, and will be asked to leave if they are in a non-park area.  As drought conditions persist, they are also asked to use caution with their outdoor activities.
