A Lewisville man was sentenced to 50 years in prison yesterday (Friday) in the Brazos County District Court.

24 year old Cristian Gonzalez plead guilty to the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Angie Saucedo. He was sentenced to 50 years in prison by District Court Judge John Brick.

On October 6, 2020, College Station Police received a 911 call from the victim’s roommate. Saucedo’s mother called the roommate, because she couldn’t get a hold of her daughter.  The roommate found Saucedo dead in her room.

The roommate told police that the last time she had heard from Saucedo, she was with Gonzalez who had come to visit her.

Police contacted Gonzalez, who was at the home of Saucedo’s mother. Gonzalez claimed he had heard of his former girlfriend’s passing and wanted to pay respects to the family.

He also told police that she was alive when he left, and that the only place he stopped on his way home was at a Wal-Mart to buy a bottle of water.

After searching the surveillance video, Gonzalez was seen throwing items in a parking lot trash can. A search of the trash can turned up the victim’s phone, paper towels consistent with what was found at her residence, and latex gloves.

Each item was determined to have Saucedo’s blood on them. The gloves were swabbed for DNA, which came back as a match for Gonzalez. Investigators also found her blood on a pair of shoes that they collected from him.

A search of the cellphone records showed that Gonzalez also attempted to hide his crime by texting Saucedo’s phone hours after he had thrown it in the trash.

College Station Police Sergeant Mike Clark and Detective Robert Wilson led the investigation into the case. Assistant DA’s Jessica Escue and Kristin Burns handled the prosecution.
