AUSTIN CO. FAIR KICKS OFF THIS WEEKEND

  

The 95th Annual Austin County Fair begins this weekend.

Today (Friday) marks the kick-off of activities at the Austin County Fairgrounds in Bellville, continuing through October 16th.

The fair gets underway today with the champion drive and the start of the barbecue cook-off.  Tomorrow (Saturday) will have the opening of the country store, mutton bustin’, bull riding and music from Austin Meade and Kody West.

Nine candidates are competing to be named Austin County Fair Queen.  They are Emily Askew, Olivia Bolten, Ashlyn Davila, Ryleigh Gilfoil, Chesney Johnston, Hope Luedeker, Keren Moreno, Kendall Mae Stark and Jaylen Tesch.  The Fair Queen contest will be held tomorrow at 5:30 p.m., following the Little and Junior Mister and Miss Contests that start at 9 a.m.

Livestock judging starts on Sunday and continues through Friday, October 14th, when the youth livestock auction sale will be held beginning at 10 a.m.

The fair parade on the town square in Bellville is set for Thursday at 10 a.m., with a theme of “Saddle Up”.

The entertainment lineup also consists of Glen Templeton and Neal McCoy on Thursday, Josh Ward and Randall King on Friday, and Hayden Baker and the Eli Young Band on Saturday, October 15th.
