The Blinn College women's soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over Jacksonville College in Region XIV play Wednesday at Hohlt Park's Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas.

With the win, the Buccaneers improved to 5-7 overall and 4-7 in region play.

The victory also put an end to Blinn's four-match losing streak.

"We have been playing well for the last three games and to finally get a positive result is fantastic," Buccaneers head coach Alexandria Jackson said. "As a team, we have been through a lot of adversity, so I'm really proud of the heart and faith they show day in and day out. I'm proud of their performance."

The Blinn College men's soccer team scored three second-half goals to secure a Region XIV home victory over Jacksonville College on Wednesday.

The victory — earned in front of its home crowd at Hohlt Park's Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas — pushed Blinn's record to 10-5-2 overall and 6-4-1 in conference play. The Bucs are in third place in the eight-team region.

"The lads showed a tremendous desire this evening," Blinn head coach Michael McBride said. "The work rate was top drawer and our execution in front of goal was clinical. I'm very proud of their performance."

After the Jaguars opened the scoring on a goal in the 10th minute, the match remained 1-0 until freshman forward David Garcia scored on an assist from freshman defender Joe Loughnane and freshman forward Toby Lansdowne in the 50th minute.

Sophomore Kamille Kum gave the Bucs the lead in the 74th minute on a feed from Lansdowne and sophomore defender Crispin Tshimanga.

Tshimanga's assist was the 13th of his Blinn career, moving him into third all-time in the program's record book.

Freshman midfielder Bryan Arevalo scored on a penalty kick in the 90th minute to put the game away.

The Buccaneers totaled 18 shots to the Jaguars' 11.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Pena made eight saves and improved to 9-5-1 in goal this season.

Following Wednesday's match, a total of 19 different players have scored at least one goal for Blinn this season, a program record. The Bucs also continue to lead NJCAA Division I in assists with 72.

Blinn hosts fifth-ranked Tyler Junior College in a region match at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Rankin Field.
