INTERNATIONAL WOOD COLLECTORS SOCIETY TO DISPLAY WOOD ART IN LA GRANGE

  
Many different forms of wood art will be showcased on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Historic Casino Hall in La Grange as part of a figured wood exhibit hosted by the International Wood Collectors Society.

The Historic Casino Hall in La Grange will display woodwork from around the world at a unique event this week.

The International Wood Collectors Society (IWCS) is hosting its 75th anniversary symposium and will present an exhibit of figured wood tomorrow (Tuesday) from noon to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The purpose of the exhibit is to showcase wood as a form of natural art.  The exhibit is open to the public at no charge.

Numerous pieces of woodwork will be on display, including turnings from renowned woodturners Kelly Dunn, Francisco Clemente, Andy Chen and Ric Taylor.

Founded in 1947, the IWCS is a nonprofit organization committed to distributing information on collecting wood, identifying and naming wood specimens, and using wood in creative crafts.
