LOCAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE DOWN SLIGHTLY IN NOVEMBER
Unemployment rates in Washington and most surrounding counties saw a slight decline during the month of November.
Per the Texas Workforce Commission, Washington County’s unemployment rate calculated at 3.8 percent in November, down from 3.9 percent in October.
The number of unemployed residents in Washington County dropped to 557 in November from 563 the month prior.
However, the tally of employed residents and the civilian labor force also fell during that time frame. November’s totals for employment and the labor force were 13,999 and 14,556, respectively, while October’s were 14,060 and 14,623.
In November 2021, the county’s unemployment rate was 4.4 percent, and 645 residents were out of work.
Statewide, the unemployment rate held at 4 percent for the third straight month.
Regional unemployment rates include:
- Austin County – 3.5 percent, down from 3.7 percent in October.
- Brazos County – 3 percent, no change from October.
- Burleson County – 3.5 percent, down from 3.7 percent.
- Fayette County – 3.4 percent, down from 3.5 percent.
- Grimes County – 4.6 percent, down from 4.7 percent.
- Lee County – 3.1 percent, down from 3.2 percent.
- Waller County – 4.2 percent, unchanged from October.
