GEORGETOWN POLICE: MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING WIFE, HOLDING FAMILY HOSTAGE ARRESTED IN COLUMBUS
A man accused of fatally shooting his wife and holding his family hostage in Georgetown was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Columbus.
Georgetown police say shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday, they received a 911 call from a juvenile saying her father, 38-year-old Ricardo Quinones, had entered their home with a weapon and was holding them hostage.
As police attempted to negotiate with Quinones, they say he shot and killed his estranged wife and fled the house. The daughter escaped the house through a window into police custody.
Around 11 a.m., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received information that Quinones could be traveling eastbound on I-10 in the county. Authorities secured a perimeter along I-10 and began searching businesses within the area.
Quinones’ vehicle was spotted in the parking lot of an AT&T store in Columbus. Officers arrived and found the suspect in the store, standing at the door. He was taken into custody without incident.
Quinones was taken to the Colorado County Jail. His vehicle and all evidence was released to the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office.
Oof ? I know what domestic abuse is like. It’s 18 years later and I still fear for my life. God be with her children, her family & may she rest in power & peace.
