DR. MICHAEL ALTMAN RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION TO BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD

(Mark Whitehead)

A Brenham dentist is seeking his third term on the Brenham School Board.

Dr. Michael Altman was first elected as a trustee in 2015.  He and his wife, Sabrina, started Altman Dentistry in 1994.  His school board race is contested, as he is facing Archer Archer for the position.

Dr. Altman believes Brenham ISD needs to continue building upon the foundations of education, making sure students are prepared for the real world and not just assessments.

A Brenham High School graduate, Dr. Altman has lived in Brenham since 1971.  He attended Blinn College and Texas A&M University, and graduated in 1993 from University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston.

Dr. Altman is proud of the school district’s implementation of programs to help students catch up in reading and writing in the wake of COVID-19.  He says he wants to address facility growth and improvements so that Brenham is ready for larger student populations.

There are currently two school board races that have more than one candidate, including Dr. Altman and Archer.  Kyle Hafner and Artis Edwards Sr. are seeking the seat occupied by Susan Jenkins, who is not running for re-election.  Incumbent Kelvin Raven presently is unopposed, along with Bonnie Brinkmeyer, who is running for former trustee Mark Schneider’s seat.

Next Friday, February 17th, is the final day to file for a place on the May 6th ballot.
