CROWDS GATHER TO CELEBRATE TEXAS INDEPENDENCE AT WASHINGTON-ON-THE-BRAZOS
Washington-on-the-Brazos marked 187 years of Texas independence at its annual living history celebration on Saturday and Sunday.
Guests to the historic site enjoyed historical reenactments and demonstrations, interactive tours, musket and cannon firings, live music performances and a parade. They also were able to browse through and purchase traditional crafts from vendors.
The state officially observes Texas Independence Day this Thursday.
This weekend’s celebration also served as a form of kick-off to major upgrades coming to the historic site, which will soon begin a $44 million renovation project to improve on-site facilities and exhibits.
