(Memorial Oaks Chapel)

A GoFundMe has been established to support the family of a man who lost his life after being accidentally struck by a fallen tree at their home north of Carmine.

43-year-old William Berry died Saturday after – according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office – a large tree he was cutting down fell on him at their residence on Young Circle.

According to his obituary page, Berry was a rural postal carrier for the Round Top/Carmine community.  Upon graduating from high school, he completed peace officer training and served in the Washington and Burleson County sheriff’s offices.  He was also a Master Mason of Graham Lodge No. 20 in Brenham and a member of the Los Carnales Motorcycle Club.

Berry is survived by his wife, Jenny, and three young boys.

As of this (Wednesday) afternoon, the GoFundMe had raised over $10,000 of its $15,000 goal, with over 80 donations.

Visitation will be held tomorrow (Thursday) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church.
