COMBINED ONE HITTER LEADS CUBS TO 1-0 WIN OVER CY WOODS

Brady Boenker and Dawson Keim pitched a combined one-hitter this (Tuesday) evening as the Brenham Cubs beat Cy Woods 1-0.

Cy Woods, a 6A team, suffered just their second loss on the season to drop to 11-2. Meanwhile, Brenham improved to 9-3.

The game's lone run came in the sixth inning. Jacob Mabie singled. R.J. Ratcliff courtesy ran for Mabie, and on a throwing error during a pick off play, got up and ran all the way to third base. Drake Bentke then followed with an RBI single.

Boenker started and went the first three innings. He did not allow a hit or a run, walked two, hit a batter, and had one strikeout. Dawson Keim (3-0) came in to pitch the final four scoreless innings allowing just one hit, one walk, hit a batter, and had three strikeouts to get the win in relief.

Next up, the Cubs will open the Brenham Alumni Tournament on Thursday at Fireman's Park. They will face Willis at 12 noon, and St. Thomas at 7:30pm. KWHI will broadcast the second game live beginning with the pregame at 7:05pm.
