Spring Break is always the busiest week of the year at Blue Bell Creameries, but this year’s break has made history.

Blue Bell Visitor Center Manager Matt Danesi says Wednesday’s number of tourists, around 4,900, broke the single-day record of roughly 4,800 set on the Friday of Spring Break in 2019.

According to Danesi, Blue Bell is averaging about 4,000 visitors a day this week and expects to have over 20,000 in total at the conclusion of Spring Break.

Danesi says the spring bluebonnets this year have played a big role in the uptick in tourism numbers.

Guests to Blue Bell can come to the observation deck between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday to Friday to see how ice cream is made and ask questions to employees.  The gift shop and ice cream parlor are open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The ice cream parlor currently has 16 flavors that are rotated out regularly and are served at $1 per scoop.  Danesi says Homemade Vanilla is the most popular flavor.

Danesi thanks the Brenham Police Department and Citizens on Patrol for their assistance with parking, as well as the Blue Bell Aquatic Center and Brenham ISD for the extra parking space.  He also thanks the City of Brenham for sitting in at Blue Bell’s Visitor Center to help promote other activities around the area for tourists to enjoy.
