BRENHAM CUBETTES RUN-RULE MONTGOMERY 10-0 IN DISTRICT PLAY

After a tough loss to Lake Creek last week, the Brenham Cubette Softball Team bounced back tonight (Tuesday) with a dominating 10-0 win over Montgomery in six innings.

Avery Maurer got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning with a triple. As she was going to third base, the throw sailed into the Cubette dugout, and allowed her to scored the first run of the game to make it 1-0 Brenham.

In the third inning, Maurer reached again, this time on a double. As she was trying to steal third, Montgomery overthrew the base, and Maurer came in to score to make it 2-0 Cubettes. Two batters later, Kaylyn Rodriguez singled, and Annie Beckendorf doubled. Sarah Mabie then drove them both home on a two run single. Kinley Antkowiak added an RBI single to score Mabie and make it 5-0 Brenham.

The Cubettes added another run in the fourth inning when Halle Scheel singled, stole second, stole third, and then scored on another Montgomery error that increased the lead to 6-0.

Brenham would finish the game off with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Maurer walked, stole second, and took third on a wild pitch. She then scored as Scheel reached on an error. Scheel stole second and came home on an RBI single by Kaylyn Rodriguez. Annie Beckendorf hit an RBI double to bring in Rodriguez. Beckendorf took third on a passed ball, and scored the final run on a sacrifice fly by Sarah Mabie to seal the 10-0 Cubette win.

Della Jasinski picked up the win going six innings, allowing no runs, five hits, four walks, and striking out eight.

Next up, the Cubettes travel to Magnolia West on Friday night for a 6:30pm game.
