BRENHAM JUNIOR HIGH RECOGNIZES COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS

Brenham Junior High School is taking time to recognize the community organizations that helped to make their 8th Grade Science Heart and Lung Dissection Program possible.

The Texas Wildlife Association, local veterinarians, Master Naturalist, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Washington County Wildlife, Brigade Cadets from the Texas Wildlife Association, and Wild Life Biologist are just a few of the organizations that have donated their time and resources.

Through the program, Brenham Junior High 8th Grade Advanced Science students were able to work in small groups with volunteers to dissect a medical grade “pluck,” which includes the heart, larynx, trachea, and lungs of pigs.

This unique opportunity allowed students to receive hands-on experiences with the anatomy and functions of organs, and systems they have been learning about in their advanced science classes.

Brenham Junior High School is the only school in the state of Texas that provides this opportunity for 8th-grade students.

8th Grade Advance Science Teacher Lori Schramme said that they are immensely grateful to the community organizations that make the program possible.

She added that their support helped to provide students with unique learning experiences that inspire a love of science and a greater understanding of the world around them.
