WCVA TO HOLD MEMORIAL DAY PROGRAM MONDAY

  

The Washington County Veterans Association (WCVA) will honor the sacrifices of veterans at its annual Memorial Day program.

Monday’s observance will be held in the American Legion Hall at Fireman’s Park in Brenham, starting at 11 a.m.

The featured speaker for the program will be Christopher Johnson.  Johnson served in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, Georgia as a rifleman, long range marksmanship instructor and career management non-commissioned officer (NCO) in the Office of the Chief of Infantry. 

Johnson was also a senior drill sergeant at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; rifle squad leader at Fort Polk, Louisiana; sniper section leader at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and sniper team leader at the Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. 

After the Army, Johnson worked as a quality/process improvement specialist at Knust-Godwin LLC in Katy.  He is currently a junior high bible teacher at Faith Academy of Bellville. 

KWHI will have a live broadcast of the program starting at 10:45 a.m. on AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com.

A barbecue chicken meal will be served dine-in and via drive-thru, and there will be a cakewalk.  Meal tickets are $15 and are available from Dan’s Meat Market, Felder’s Buy & Bye, K&M Grocery, Quick-Mart and Robert’s Service Station.
