Thirty-three Burton High School seniors are embarking on the next steps in their life journey.

The Class of 2023 was presented diplomas Friday night underneath the Oliver Whitener/Roy Winkler Pavilion, with a large crowd of loved ones cheering on the graduates as they walked the stage.

Words of encouragement were shared by the top two students of the class, valedictorian Chet Fritsch and salutatorian Vicente Veliz Jr.  Fritsch, who completed high school with a grade point average of 4.1529, told his classmates to not be scared to follow their dreams, listen to their inner self and put in the work necessary to prosper.

Vicente Veliz Jr. presents his salutatory
speech to the Class of 2023.

Veliz, who graduated with a GPA of 4.0637, said while this may be the end of one chapter, life’s book still has plenty more in store.

Fifteen of the 33 seniors graduated with honors.
