GAS PRICES UP OVER LAST WEEK FOR MEMORIAL DAY

  

Gas prices for this Memorial Day weekend are higher than where they were a week ago.

According to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is $3.12.  That is up 4 cents from last week, but still much cheaper than a year ago, when the average price was $4.25.

In Brenham, drivers are paying $3.14 on average, with the lowest price at $2.90 and the highest at $3.50.

Across the state’s major metropolitan areas, gas prices in the McAllen-Edinburg-Mission region are reported to be the cheapest at $2.94, while the most expensive gas is in Sherman-Denison at $3.24. 

Nationwide, the price for a gallon of fuel averages out to $3.57, 3 cents more than last week but over a dollar less than the price of $4.60 at this time last year.
