NAVASOTA MAN KILLED IN TRAIN-PEDESTRIAN COLLISION

  

Navasota police are investigating a fatal accident late Tuesday night involving a train and a pedestrian. 

Officers responded around 11:45 p.m. to the Union Pacific railroad tracks along Railroad Street between Washington Avenue and Blackshear Street to a report of a pedestrian being possibly struck by a train.

The Navasota Police and Fire Departments searched the area and located a man along the tracks near the intersection of Railroad and Stoneham Street.  The man, identified as 60-year-old Lee Johnson of Navasota, was deceased on scene.

The train was traveling southbound through Navasota and stopped shortly after the impact.  By 3 a.m. today (Wednesday), the train was removed from the scene and all crossings were opened.
