THREE BRENHAM CUB BASEBALL PLAYERS NAMED ALL DISTRICT
With Magnolia West wrapping up the State 5A Baseball Championship this past Saturday, the 2023 All-District Selections for District 21-5A have been released.
Three members of the Brenham Cub Baseball Team were recognized for their efforts this past season.
Outfielder Drake Bentke and Pitcher/Outfielder Lane Sparks were named Second Team All District, while Designated Hitter Grant Rogas received Honorable Mention All District.
Bentke, a freshman, had .337 batting average, a .453 on-base percentage, and a .530 slugging percentage. He also had 28 hits including nine doubles, two triples, one home run, 22 RBIs, plus 13 runs scored, and drew 15 walks.
Sparks, a senior, pitched in 13 games this season, nine as a starter. He had 59 strikeouts in 48 2/3 innings pitched with 2.16 ERA.
At the plate, he had a .365 batting average, a .481 on-base percentage, and a .541 slugging percentage. Sparks had 31 hits, 11 doubles, and two triples to go along with 13 RBIs, 32 runs scored, and 18 walks.
Rogas, who is also a senior, finished with a .324 batting average, a .432 on-base percentage, and a .581 slugging percentage. He had 24 hits, six doubles, two triples, three home runs, 13 RBIs, 15 runs scored, and 14 BB.
