The town of Bremond is holding their annual Polski Dzien festival this Friday and Saturday.

The weekend begins with live music on Friday featuring Walt Harfmann at 4pm, followed by the Ed Kopecky Polka Band at 6pm, and the Risky Liver Band at 8pm.

Activities get underway on Saturday morning with the 5K Polish Pickle Run at 8am. Organizers are expecting somewhere between 800 to 1,000 runners.

Then at 10am, they will start the volleyball, horseshoe, and washer tournaments.

The opening ceremony begins at 10:30am with the singing of both the American and Polish National Anthems.

That will be followed by a parade through Downtown Bremond at 11am.

The festival also includes a barbecue cookoff  with competitions that include beans, chicken, pork ribs, and brisket.

Musical entertainment for Saturday includes Jim Mazurkiewicz and Friends at 9:30am, a Jagoda Polish Folk Dance at 10am, the Moravians Polka Band at 11:30am, the Mark Halata and Texavia Polka Band at 2:30pm, the Dujka Brothers Polka Band at 5:30pm, and they finish it off with the Texas Unlimited Band at 8pm.

The goal for Polski Dzien is to share Polish culture and cuisine through family fun, tradition, and entertainment.

Proceeds from the event go to college scholarships for local youth, assisting members of the community, promoting new business opportunities, beautification projects, and maintenance of the downtown area.
