WOMAN REPORTEDLY RECOVERING AFTER CRASH, FALL FROM NAVASOTA RIVER BRIDGE
The Plano woman who was airlifted to a hospital after falling from the Navasota River bridge following a crash is reported to be recovering.
24-year-old Sabrina Burton was flown in critical condition to St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan after Sunday night’s accident on Highway 105, west of Navasota.
DPS reported that Burton was driving westbound in a 2015 Jeep Renegade when her vehicle drifted and struck the right-side guardrail of the bridge. The SUV then went across the highway and hit the opposite guardrail.
According to DPS, the crash was witnessed by Washington County EMS. As they approached the vehicle, they saw Burton, who was disoriented from the accident, climb out of the driver-side window and fall from the bridge.
The Navasota Examiner spoke with Burton’s stepsister, Myles Hunt, who told them that Burton is able to walk with help from hospital nurses and is talking. Hunt said Burton suffered fractures throughout her body but has no internal bleeding. She said it is a miracle that Burton can walk, telling the paper that “her bones broke in a perfect way.” Burton is surrounded by family and friends as she continues her recovery.
