BRYAN MAN SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS IN PRISON

A Bryan man was sentenced on Friday to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges in two different cases.

49-year-old Troy Briscoe plead guilty to Assault Family Violence Strangulation with a Prior Conviction, and DWI 3rd or More Offenses.

Briscoe was arrested on April 24, 2022 after a victim reported to police that he tried to strangle her after consuming alcohol for a large portion of the day.

The victim said that they had a verbal argument initially, and that ended up with her having to fight him off.

While Briscoe was out on bond, he got arrested gain on June 4, 2022.  Bryan Police stopped  a vehicle being driven by Briscoe.

Officers noticed that he was showing signs of intoxication, and there was an open beer in his vehicle.

Briscoe’s blood alcohol level was tested, and came back at .24, which is three times over the legal limit.

The Brazos County District Attorney’s Office added that Briscoe has an extensive criminal history that includes prison terms for multiple DWI arrests, and for Aggravated Assault with A Deadly Weapon.

He was on parole at the time of these latest arrests.
