SCHULENBURG MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER OF FATHER

  

A Schulenburg man is accused of murder in the death of his father on Saturday.

Schulenburg police responded to a report of shots fired shortly before 9:15 p.m. at a residence in the 200 block of Upton Avenue. 

When officers arrived, they detained two subjects who were seen exiting the home.  Police entered and found a 64-year-old male deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. 

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek identified the victim as Ricky Machicek of Schulenburg.  According to Brenek, the shooting stemmed from an argument. 

After an investigation and several interviews, 24-year-old Shane Machicek was arrested for first-degree Murder and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center for booking. 

The other detained subject was later released.

Schulenburg police were assisted in their investigation by the Texas Rangers and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
