OUTDOOR SAFETY ENCOURAGED AS FOURTH OF JULY APPROACHES
As residents make plans to celebrate the Fourth of July, local fire officials remind them to be careful in all activities they are enjoying.
The City of Brenham does not allow the possession, discharging, transportation, storage, sale or presence of any fireworks inside or within 5,000 feet of city limits.
Brenham Fire Marshal Steven Loving says anyone looking to set off fireworks in the county must be mindful of their surroundings and the conditions of their environment.
Citizens should be respectful of pets and neighbors if they plan to use fireworks or sparklers and make sure children are always supervised.
Proper disposal of fireworks is also paramount. Loving says to wet or submerge spent fireworks to cool them down before throwing them out.
Barbecuing and grilling are Fourth of July staples, and Loving says many of the tips for fireworks safety apply at the pit, too.
In this summer heat, Loving also reminds everyone to stay hydrated.
I wish That they were Illegal We live in a Country subdivision And have a House that is Not part of our neighborhood they set off Fireworks starting around 9:00 pm and they go on all night until around 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning We just lay in Bed Praying that it will be over soon and that they do not set the whole neighborhood on fire, this goes on for nights Not just one night Plus Our poor dog is horrified by Fireworks… Please Remember that Dogs and some people ( Possible Veterans Of wars) who have PTSD struggle when they hear Fireworks
I totally agree. They should not be sold to the general public, as people these days have no sense, nor consideration for anyone else. Furthermore, thousands of people go to the ER every year with serious injuries that are totally unnecessary. I am a Vet with PTSD and it causes me really bad flashbacks.
Yes agree it’s just plain Common Sense. One years I had a pit bull terrified and crawled under my pier and beam house and died. I had to pay someone dearly to remove the dog ?Point its, it died of fear and shock. ..And my neighbors roof caught fire. So out law the fireworks in Texas as far as I’m concerned because people are different now. No respect for others and they hurt animals and children.
This post takes the cake! If you wanted laws for this sort of thing, you should have bought a house in the city limits where there are already laws against fireworks and other “objectionable” noises. But no, instead, let’s get the politicians to pass more laws to make the counties just as bad as the cities then we can move somewhere else and start the process all over again. My dogs don’t like New Year’s Eve or The 4th of July either, but we deal with it.
Walter That’s Great that you “Deal” with it But the people behind me set off fireworks from about July 2nd until July 6th or 7th every night until at least 4:00pm every night it gets a little hard to “Deal with” after about 5 or 6 nights in a row.. We both get up for work at 4:30 am as we work early and out of town. You say I should Deal with it, BUT don’t I deserve Peace and quiet as a Homeowner, AND I moved from the city limits where My City taxes got too high But even there we had a neighbor that shot off fireworks sorry if my post offended you. I was just saying that people need to have some courtesy towards their neighbors .
I meant to say 4: am See My lack of sleep due to the nightly fireworks has my brain fogged It is still going on nightly now with loud music as well GeeZ
