LEE CO. SHERIFF ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION
Lee County’s top lawman is reportedly stepping down.
According to the Giddings Times & News, Lee County Sheriff Casey Goetz announced his resignation from the position on Thursday.
Goetz was first elected in 2020, defeating Fayette County Sheriff’s Detective Garrett Durrenberger for the post held by Rodney Meyer. Meyer had served as sheriff since 2009.
A reason for Goetz’ resignation has not yet been provided, but Lee County Judge Frank Malinak III is expected to issue a statement on Monday. Other details on who will fill the position in the interim are anticipated to be shared at that time.
