DR. CHAPLIN: FAMILY DROVE DECISION TO RETIRE AS BRENHAM ISD SUPT.

Dr. Tylor Chaplin

Brenham ISD Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin says his choice to retire was motivated by a desire to spend more time with family.

In an interview this (Wednesday) morning with KWHI, Dr. Chaplin opened up about his decision to step away as the school superintendent at the end of December

Dr. Chaplin, who turns 51 in two weeks, said this is a conversation he, his wife and children have had at length, but wants to ensure he is able to enjoy as much time with them as he can.

Dr. Chaplin has been Brenham ISD’s superintendent since August 2020, coming to Brenham after spending four years with Burkburnett ISD.  He said education has changed drastically over the course of his time in Brenham, with COVID-19 reforming how schools operate and how students are taught.  He is proud of what the district was able to accomplish in keeping the doors open for children and where it is now after the past three years.

When asked if education is still in his future in some form, he does not envision walking away from it entirely, but what that may entail is still up in the air.

Dr. Chaplin says the school board consists of people who have numerous years of education experience and a passion for doing what is best for schoolchildren.  He believes the board will have no problem in finding the right candidate for the job.

Dr. Chaplin says the search for the next superintendent will be very thorough and extensive.  Whoever that may be, he hopes that person can build upon the foundation laid, expand the district’s vision and continuously improve the organization so it can do the same for the lives of students.

  1. Weird
He is the reason BISD doesn’t have money for teachers. He created jobs for people and gave them a 6 figure income.

    1. I agree—Too many created positions with too high pay and none left for teachers is correct. That’s why Brenham has lost so many teachers. Teachers should come first…they are the ones that take care of the kids so Brenham had better learn to take care of their teachers! Brenham ISD needs to realize they better find ways increase TEACHER pay in order to attract and keep the teachers they need and have.
