A member of Washington County’s Precinct 1 Constable’s Office is seeking the lead constable role in Precinct 3.

Brad Kuecker has announced his intent to run next year for the position currently held by David Blakey Jr., who is not seeking election for a third term.  Kuecker will run as a Republican.

Kuecker, a 1990 graduate of Brenham High School, has served as a sergeant with the Precinct 1 Constable’s Office for over six years.  He believes his familiarity with how the office operates will be a solid foundation as he looks to take on greater responsibility in his home precinct.

After high school, Kuecker served with the United States Air Force for two years.  He worked in liquid fuels maintenance and was on the runway repair team and shuttle recovery team.

Kuecker earned his Texas peace officer’s license in 1998 after attending the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service’s (TEEX) Police Academy, and currently has a master peace officer’s license.  He possesses over 4,000 hours of law enforcement training, including over 65 hours dedicated to civil training, and in 2015 graduated from leadership command college held at Sam Houston State University’s Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas.

If elected, Kuecker’s vision for the constable’s office involves being fiscally responsible to taxpayers.

Kuecker resides in Precinct 3 with his wife, Tavia.

At this time, Kuecker will have one opponent in the primary election: Damon Wegner, retired sergeant/investigator and current reserve deputy with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The primary election will take place on March 5, 2024.  Filing for a place on the ballot opens on November 11th.
