BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD TO REVIEW BUDGET, TAX RATE
The Brenham School Board will continue budget discussions and set a proposed tax rate at its meeting tomorrow (Tuesday).
The board will resume budget talks from its meeting last week. The budget reviewed at that time had a deficit of nearly $4.6 million.
Trustees will also present a tax rate for consideration and eventual adoption. Last year's adopted rate was $0.9346 per $100 valuation, made up of $0.8546 for maintenance and operations (M&O) and $0.08 for interest and sinking (I&S).
After discussion, the board will set a date and time for a public hearing to receive comments on the proposed budget and tax rate.
In other business, trustees will consider approval of a bid for structural repairs at the Pride Academy and the purchase of ventahoods in the Brenham High School culinary arts classrooms.
Also at the meeting, the board will:
- Consider an agreement to purchase attendance credits and delegate contractual authority to the superintendent.
- Hold a public hearing regarding the proposed application for a high school equivalency program and review of the performance of the program proposed under the application. In addition, the board will consider possible approval of an application to the Texas Education Agency for the high school equivalency program to continue to be offered as part of the school's credit recovery program.
- Hold an executive session for consultation with an attorney and personnel matters.
The board will meet tomorrow at noon in the Brenham ISD Administration Office. The meeting will be livestreamed on Brenham ISD's YouTube channel.
