MULTIPLE VEHICLE THEFTS REPORTED IN AUSTIN CO.

The Austin County Sheriff’s Office is cautioning the public after a series of reported vehicle thefts.

A notice published by the sheriff’s office on Friday reads that in the past week, there have been four vehicle thefts in various parts of the county.

While the specific locations of the thefts were not disclosed, all of the vehicles involved were either Ford or Dodge heavy duty trucks, and all of the thefts occurred in the early morning between 2 and 5 a.m.  So far, one of the vehicles has been recovered in Colorado County.

According to the sheriff’s office, several of the stolen vehicles had the key fob still inside while they were parked at their residences.

Citizens are advised to lock their vehicles and remove any valuables, even if they live behind locked gates.  Any suspicious activity should be reported as soon as it is noticed to the Austin County Sheriff’s Office at 979-865-3111 or, if it is an emergency, 911.
