FORMER PAROLE OFFICER SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON
A former parole officer is going to be spending the rest of her life in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child Under 6 Years Old.
54-year-old Saralyn Proschko of Victoria was charged in connection with the 2015 sexual abuse of a 5-year-old child that occurred in Wallis.
Proschko chose to have the judge decide her punishment rather than the jury.
155th District Court Judge Jeff Steinhauser handed down the maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole and a $10,000 fine.
Austin County Assistant District Attorney Brandy Robinson, who handled the prosecution, presented evidence that showed Proschko and co-defendant David Ray McGee committed 14 acts of sexual abuse against the child at McGee’s home over a four-month period.
A former co-worker of Proschko’s testified that after hearing certain statements she made about McGee and the child, they began to suspect abuse, and called law enforcement.
Proschko and McGee were arrested after investigations at the local, state, and federal level.
McGee plead guilty back in 2017, and also received a sentence of life without parole and a $10,000 fine.
Proschko had previously received a 40-year sentence in Goliad County for Injury to a Child, and a 25-year federal sentence for Exploitation of a Child.
According to the D.A.’s Office, the trial, which was held last week, had been delayed due to a backlog in Austin County, as well as COVID, and the disposition of charges against her in other jurisdictions.

Such a tragedy for this poor child. She is smiling inn her booking photot like she is slightly “off” or something. Seriously what is wrong with people like this? It saddens my heart that yet another child has and will continue to suffer and another public servant is behind it.
