BRENHAM GAMECHANGERS REPORTS SUCCESSFUL SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE
Brenham GameChangers thanks the public for contributing to its yearly school supply drive for Brenham and Burton ISD students.
This year’s drive raised $20,000 through local fundraising efforts. Brenham ISD was able to provide 817 students with school grade-specific packets, while Burton ISD was able to provide 65 students with school supplies.
Brenham GameChangers board member Courtney Mason said for this drive, the organization worked with Educational Products, Inc. to order supplies. The program customized packets for each campus based on the principal’s request, and supplies were delivered and ready for students in their classrooms on the first day of class.
Each district could bulk purchase school supplies from vendors of their choice based on the number of family applications submitted by the ordering deadline earlier this summer.
The total spent on ordering the packets was $8,220. The difference of $11,780 is available to the school districts to help meet the needs of students throughout the school year. Brenham GameChangers will work within the districts’ policies to donate the funds.
The Brenham H-E-B also held a general school supply drive throughout the summer at store checkout lines. They donated an additional 2,000 general bags to be distributed to district campuses for students in need of supplies.
Brenham GameChangers Board President Dr. Heather Thielemann thanks all those in Washington County who helped to support local students.
