BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO VOTE ON ADOPTING BUDGET, TAX RATE

  

The Burton School Board will hold a public hearing and take votes on approving the 2023-24 budget and tax rate at its meeting Tuesday morning.

The proposed budget presented for adoption totals $15,276,096.

The tax rate is $0.9380 per $100 valuation, comprised of $0.7380 for maintenance and operations and $0.20 for interest and sinking. It is lower than last year’s rate of $1.0546 per $100.

The budget accounts for $1,000 in pay raises for teachers and staff, plus a $1,000 bonus in December.

After action on the budget and tax rate, trustees will consider budget amendments for the 2022-23 Fiscal Year.

An executive session is planned to discuss personnel, discipline and district safety and security.

The board will meet Tuesday at 7 a.m. in the Burton ISD Administration Office.
