WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO HOLD WORKSHOP ON POTENTIAL SOLID WASTE ORDINANCE
A workshop regarding the possible creation of a solid waste ordinance will be part of Tuesday's proceedings for Washington County Commissioners.
The court is considering authorizing its legal counsel, Allison, Bass & Magee, LLP, to prepare an ordinance that would designate areas in Washington County where municipal and solid waste disposal are not prohibited. The ordinance would block solid waste disposal in other areas.
The legal counsel would also be instructed to prepare a takings impact assessment concerning the ordinance and schedule a public hearing on the proposed assessment and ordinance.
In regular session, commissioners will potentially act upon approving overtime pay for any county employee that assists the Tax Assessor-Collector's Office due to vacancies. The item comes after several employees in the office abruptly walked out on Thursday.
In addition, the court will vote on consolidating polling places for the November 7th constitutional amendment election.
Also on Tuesday, commissioners will consider:
- The enforcement of the no parking signs placed on the county property located on Blue Bell Road between Independence Street and Armbrister Street.
- The purchase of an AC unit and handler for the Washington County Expo.
- Purchasing a 2024 Ford Expedition Max for the Washington County Extension Office.
- The purchase of a chipspreader from R.B. Everett & Co. for the Engineering and Development Services Department through a state cooperative purchasing program.
- Purchasing an asphalt distributor truck from Associated Supply Company, Inc. for the Engineering and Development Services Department through a state cooperative purchasing program.
- A formal notice for a water service installation by PGMS in the Weber Lane right-of-way in Precinct 3.
- A proclamation declaring the month of September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Washington County.
- Monthly reports from the county and district clerks, justices of the peace, auditor and treasurer.
Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
Wow, must be nice to get paid overtime to work down the hall, in a building where nobody works overtime. The bigger problem needs to be resolved…why did 50%-75% of your office workers quit? Maybe has something to do with who still works there.
