BUCCANEERS SWEEP VICTORIA 3-0; WIN STREAK AT 20

The ninth-ranked Blinn College volleyball team soared to its 20th consecutive win with a Region XIV sweep of Victoria College on Tuesday in Victoria, Texas.

Chloe Howard (Joe Alberico)

The 25-10, 25-7, 25-9 victory pushed the Buccaneers to 21-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play.

"Our middle blockers played really well, our serve receive was very good, and Chloe Howard did a great job running the offense," Blinn head coach Terry Gamble said. "It was also good to see us not have a letdown tonight like we've seen in the past."

Howard, a freshman setter, served up 23 set assists for a diverse Bucs offense. Freshman right-side hitter Kellen Dorotik regained the NJCAA Division I national lead in kills with a team-high 10 on Tuesday. Sophomore middle blocker Brooke Pattschull followed with nine, sophomore outside hitter Lexi Higgins had seven, and sophomore middle blocker Taylor Glendening added six.

Blinn also did some damage from the service line with 10 aces, led by two apiece for Glendening and freshmen Elizabeth Tyner (setter) and Riley Cox (libero).

Cierra Pesak (Joe Alberico)

On defense, freshman libero Cierra Pesak tallied 13 digs to pace the Bucs. Pesak now has 369 digs on the season, second in the nation behind Western Texas College libero Lauren Fuller (375).
The Buccaneers' current winning streak is their second longest under Gamble, who took the reins of the program in 2018. The 2021 Blinn squad enjoyed a 38-match run between Aug. 21 and Nov. 18, 2021. Blinn will look to make it 21 in a row when it hosts Northwest Mississippi Community College at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.
