NO ARREST AFTER MULTI-COUNTY CHASE ENDS IN BRENHAM
A high-speed chase through several counties Wednesday afternoon ended in Brenham without an arrest.
According to Lee County Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger, a sheriff’s deputy spotted a vehicle traveling 120 mph on Highway 21 near Manheim, in western Lee County, around 2 p.m. The deputy pursued the vehicle but was unable to stop it as it traveled into Burleson County. Information was relayed to Burleson County agencies regarding the vehicle’s description at the time, a black Chevrolet or Dodge two-door car.
The chase later came down Highway 36 into Brenham. Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak said officers lost sight of the vehicle once it got into Brenham, but it was later located parked in the vicinity of the Giddings Stone Mansion. The sheriff’s office confirmed the vehicle was stolen out of Atascosa County. Information was provided to Lee County as to the location of the vehicle.
Durrenberger said the suspect’s whereabouts are unknown, and it is undetermined if charges will be filed. The incident is still under investigation.
