The Blinn College men's soccer team rewrote another line in its record book Friday in Athens, Texas.
The Buccaneers blanked Region XIV rival Trinity Valley Community College 3-0 for their best 10-game start in program history.
Blinn jumped to 8-2 overall, which bests its 7-3 record through 10 matches in 2019. The Bucs are now also 2-1 in Region XIV.
"This was the most complete performance of the season, and I couldn't be happier," Blinn head coach Michael McBride said. "The lads executed our plan, stuck to their roles, and stayed resolute throughout the 90 minutes of play."
Sophomore forward David Garcia, Blinn's all-time leader in career goals scored, got things started with a tally in the fourth minute. He was helped by sophomore forward Joe Loughnane and sophomore midfielder Toby Lansdowne. Garcia struck again in the 16th minute when he took a feed from freshman defender Philipp Mokwa and deposited it for a 2-0 lead.
Garcia now has a team-best nine goals and 25 during his time as a Buc. He is tied for fourth in NJCAA Division I in goals scored this season.
Late in the second half, freshman forward Phillip Arceneaux headed a corner kick from Lansdowne into the back of the Trinity Valley net.
Arceneaux's goal was the 275th goal scored by the Buccaneers since the program's launch in 2018.
Lansdowne currently leads all NJCAA Division I men's soccer players with 10 assists. Loughnane is second with eight. Five of the top six leaders in the assists category are Buccaneers.
Blinn finished with 20 shots, including nine on goal, while the Cardinals had four shots and one on goal.
On defense, Buccaneer freshman goalkeeper Noah LeMaster earned his eighth win of the season in 90 minutes of play. He made one save.
Blinn gets back to work with a region home match against Paris Junior College at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Rankin Field inside Hohlt Park in Brenham, Texas.
